Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is most typical amongst women who have suffered the loss of a breast caused by cancer. Alternatively, it is perhaps high risk candidates who want to take action against any future loss from breast cancer. Through breast reconstruction, a new breast, very like a natural breast in form and appearance, is made as a substitute for the original. Breast reconstruction can be performed immediately after mastectomy or in a separate surgery. Breast reconstruction comprises of 2  steps. The 1st step is to reconstruct the breast mound in the proper size and shape using either a patient’s own tissues or even a prostheses full of silicone or saline. Step 2  is to use local flaps of skin to create the nipple-areolar complex and with the aid of medical tattooing, achieve the necessary color. Once the brand new breast is reconstructed, the other breast may need to be lifted or reduced to achieve symmetry. Patients are typically satisfied with the final result of the surgery.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is really a condition resulting from pressure being placed on the main nerve to the hand. Repetitive movement of the wrist could cause this condition, which can be characterised by tingling or losing sensation in the fingers, pain inside hand or wrist, and weak hand muscles. At first, non-surgical treatments might be explored, which could be pain medication, the usage of icepacks to bring swelling down, keeping the wrist wrapped to stop movement and most certainly advise to cease activities that use wrist movement. Prolonged symptoms of over 6 months would usually result in surgery that will relieve pressure on the nerve. Surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome, is always performed as a day procedure, either under local anesthetic, with or without sedation, or under a general anesthetic. Through surgery we can relieve pressure to the nerve by severing the band of tissue round the wrist.
